Itchy scalp is embarrassing especially in public. Not only does it cause irritation, it can also cause hair loss. The most common causes are from dandruff, dry scalp, infection, and poor diet. Here are a couple ways of preventing this from happening without it being expensive.
• Tea tree oil. It's anti fungal, anti inflammation, and antibacterial properties, it helps treat your itchy scalp. If you are using a tea tree oil, mix in 15 drops with every half cup of shampoo and use it daily until your scalp feels healthier. Another option is to get a shampoo with tea tree oil infused in it like this one to improve your scalp without needing to mix it yourself.
• Aloe vera. Aloe vera is hydrating and can help with relieving the itchiness from your dry scalp. Get aloe vera gel to soak into your hair and massage into scalp. Leave it in for 10 - 15 minutes and rinse out with a gentle shampoo. If you want to skip having 2 steps, you can find a shampoo that has aloe vera infused to help you in the long run without having to wait an extra 10 - 15 mins.
• Coconut oil. Coconut oil is similar to the aloe vera in providing hydration to dry scalp. Coconut oil shampoos are widely available in many stores and is often used as the main hydrating component in shampoos and conditioners. This will prevent the itching and dryness of your scalp and make it healthier and softer.
• Jojoba oil. Jojoba oil has similar components to the natural oil/sebum people produce from their scalp. It rejuvenates and hydrates your scalp and helps promote hair growth as well. Jojoba oil can be purchased as a hair oil treatment or sometimes is included in shampoos and conditioners.
Never let an itchy scalp get out of hand! Control it with these few tips and you will be back to normal in no time.
